The Kit for New Parents program is operated by the California Children and Families Commission (First 5 California), a state agency. This privacy policy is provided in accordance with the California Information Practices Act (Civil Code § 1798 et seq.), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable state and federal law.

Information We Collect

When you request a Kit for New Parents, we collect the following personal information solely for the purpose of fulfilling your request:

Contact & Delivery Information

Name, mailing address, email address, and phone number — used to ship your kit and communicate about your order.

Household Information

Language preference and county of residence — used to select the correct kit version and route your order.

Technical Information

IP address, browser type, and pages visited — collected automatically through standard web server logs and used only for security and performance monitoring.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide only for the following purposes:

  • Fulfilling and shipping your kit order
  • Sending order confirmation and status updates
  • Responding to questions or support requests
  • Improving program delivery and measuring reach
  • Complying with state reporting requirements

Data Retention

Personal information collected through this program is retained only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy or as required by the California Secretary of State's Records Retention Schedule and other applicable law. Order records are generally retained for a minimum of three (3) years.

Security

We implement reasonable technical and administrative safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss. This website uses HTTPS encryption for all data transmission. Access to personal information is restricted to authorized staff with a legitimate program need.

Children's Privacy

This website is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of this website after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
